Overview of geodetic survey sheets web map
The web map displays historical applied geodetic survey sheets at scales 1:500, 1:1000, 1:2000 and 1:5000. Applied geodetic survey sheets at scales 1:1000, 1:2000 and 1:5000 come from the geodesy archive of the Estonian Land and Spatial Development Board. The plans can be displayed by decade and are available for download for those interested. The survey sheets at scale 1:500 come from the Tallinn City Government's geodetic survey information system.
This is an informative material.
Help for the web map user:
1. Quick display function and download
For the data layers "all 1:5000 survey sheets", "all 1:2000 survey sheets" and "all 1:1000 survey sheets", a quick display function has been added to the information query (click the value in the "Georeferenced applied geodetic rasters" field in the information query window to display), which opens one sheet activated with a specific information query. This may be useful in some use cases.
For the same layers, it is also possible to download a given survey sheet via the information query window.
2. Planchets by decade
In some regions, there are more survey sheets and they may overlap. To solve the coverage problem, the sheets have been grouped by decade. In the general view of Estonia, make sure where in the region there are sheets for a given layer at all and then enlarge the map image until the sheets appear.
3. Tablet transparency
By default, survey sheets are set to a low transparency so that the modern base map is gently translucent. The layer transparency can be increased or decreased in the additional settings of the sheet layer as needed.
4. Hybrid Map data layer
In the web maps layer selection, you can find the Hybrid Map data layer, which allows you to display the current status on survey sheets - roads, streets, street names, buildings, house numbers, water bodies, administrative boundaries.
Happy exploring!
